Composer and singer. Chiara Margarita was a Benedictine nun and was cloistered in the convent of Santa Radegonda in Milan, where, upon becoming an abbess, she stopped composing. Here is Gloria in altissimis Deo, with a link to download the score.
At the convent of Santa Radegonda, the nuns sang during major religious festivals. This attracted considerable attention from the outside world. As abbess, Cozzolani championed the nuns' music, which was attacked by Archbishop Alfonso Litta, who wanted to reform the convent by limiting the nuns' musical practice and their contact with the outside world.
It's O quam suavis est Domine spiritus tuus, which is part of her Sacred Concert, written in 1642. The link to view the score is below.
Cozzolani disappears from the convent records after 1676. The first modern edition of her complete motets, for one to five voices and continuo, appeared in 1998. One of them, Ave Maria, is included, and this time without score.
