Composer and pianist. She made her solo debut in 1874 with the Edinburgh Amateur Orchestral Society. She began studying composition with Carl Reinecke and, after several successful concerts in Leipzig and London, began touring regularly throughout Europe.
Here's her Piano Concerto for Orchestra. No score.
In 1892, she moved to Paris and began teaching piano. A few years later, she was invited to take a position as a professor at the New England Conservatory, which she left in 1901, continuing as a private tutor. Here's her Romance in A minor, along with a link to download the sheet music.
Hopekirk's last concert was in Boston in 1939. She died in Cambridge of a cerebral thrombosis. Finally, I'm sharing Sarabande, the first movement from her Piano Suite. The link to download the score includes that and also Gavotte, the fourth movement.
