She studied piano and singing at the Stockholm Conservatory and continued her composition studies in Paris with Benjamin Godard and Vincent d'Indy. I'm sharing her Suite for Orchestra; but there's no score.

Her debut as a composer was in Sweden in 1885, and towards the end of 1890, she began writing music for orchestra. I'm sharing her Sonata for Violin and Piano, Op. 21, with a link to download the score.

Munktell wrote primarily for orchestra, but also composed vocal, chamber, choral, and operatic works. Below is Bränningar, Op. 19, a symphonic poem, as well as a link to download the score.

In 1915, she became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and in 1918, he co-founded the Swedish Society of Composers. Finally, another symphonic poem, Valborgsmessoeld, Op. 24. The link to download the score contains only a piano reduction by Munktell herself.
