Renié began playing when she was 8, but was still too young to reach the harp's pedals, so her father invented extended pedals to help her. At 11, she won the Premier Prix; her performance is considered one of the finest in the history of the Paris Conservatoire. At 15, she gave her first solo recital.
Here is her Trio for harp, violin and cello, with the link to download the score.
When Renié premiered her Harp Concerto, in addition to demonstrating the virtuosity of her playing, she established herself as a composer by showcasing the harp as a solo instrument, inspiring other composers like Debussy and Ravel to write for it.
