Ida Henriette da Fonseca (1802-1858) Denmark

Composer and opera singer. In 1827, she obtained a position at the Royal Opera alongside her sister, Emilie da Fonseca, also a singer. I'm sharing her Romance, one of the 18 songs she composed. The link to the score is also here:





In 1833 and 1834, she toured Europe, appearing in Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, after which she was hailed as one of Scandinavia's finest singers. However, since she was not a soprano but an alto, which was not fashionable, she received few roles in Danish opera. She retired in 1840.

In 1841, she was appointed a singer at the royal court, which helped her gain students and overcome her financial difficulties. In 1848, she published her first composition, becoming one of the leading female composers in her country.
