Her compositions for piano predominate, especially variations, which are characterized by a broad understanding of piano technique and ingenious use of the instrument. Here are her six variations "Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja" (The Bird Watcher, I'm Already), along with a link to download the sheet music.
Among her teachers was Mozart, who wrote, "Almost every day after dinner I am with Auernhammer—The young lady is a monster!—she plays delightfully, yet she lacks the genuine fine, lilting quality of the cantabile; she runs too fast." That year, Mozart dedicated his Violin Sonatas K. 296 and K. 376–80 to her.
