Josephine's mother, Regina Hitzelberger, was an opera singer and began teaching her piano at age 5, recognizing her great potential as a composer. At age 11, it was Josephine who began giving piano lessons.

Here's Arabesque, which is part of his 3 Klavierstücke album. The link to download the full score is below.

From a young age, Lang struggled with health problems. She constantly struggled to maintain her education and performance while also trying to lead a healthy life. Once, while hospitalized and recovering, she met Reinhold Köstlin, a lawyer and poet. They fell in love and shared a happy marriage.

After Köstlin's death, Josephine had to support her family and returned to writing songs and teaching piano. Here is "Traumbild," the first lied from his Op. 28, for voice, cello, and piano. The link to download the score contains the complete work.

Due to Josephine's financial difficulties, she contacted Clara Wieck (a composer also featured on this blog) for help and assistance. Clara organized a benefit concert, with her as the pianist, featuring Lang's music. ( <3 ) Josephine became a prominent composer, successful enough to have her works published. She died of a heart attack.

Finally, there's Am Bache, Op. 20, with its respective link to download the score.
