Composer, violinist, and singer. Hoping to play the violin professionally in a European classical scene dominated almost entirely by men (strange, huh?), Lombardini was occasionally given permission to study with the virtuoso violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini. This is her Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major. And the link to access the score.
Maddalena Lombardini quickly established her reputation as one of the finest and most celebrated violinists and composers. This is a duet for two violins in C major. A link to view the score is also included.
Her compositions showcased the violin with virtuoso brilliance in dynamics, yet still moderated by the early classical tradition. This is the third of six string trios, Op. 1. And, as expected, the link to the score.
